Ani Tascian was born in San Francisco, California to immigrant parents. She grew up in the Armenian culture, part of the Bay Area Armenian Diaspora. She has her B.A. from U.C. Berkeley in English Literature and M.F.A. in Creative Non-Fiction from Saint Mary’s College of California where she won the Dean’s Award for Excellence. She has also been awarded residencies at VONA/Voices and Vermont Studio Center. Her essays can be found in h-pem, Citron Review, Bird’s Thumb, Foliate Review and others. Most recently, she was in conversation with Elizabeth Rosner, author of Survivor Café through the Alta Mesa Center for the Arts. She teaches creative writing in East Bay elementary schools and to adult students in Berkeley.
